Have one like that...received it here on the board in the secret pal swap...also have a large hoop that I put a piece of fabric in that I just couldn't bring myself to cut and it is hanging up on the wall in my sewing room too.

That's who I gave it too. I couldn't remember. Brenda !!

I'm glad you shared that! I have a few embroidery hoops and didn't really know what to do with them other than make them in to a wall hanging... that makes a fun way to hold some tools :)

ctmhjenn 02-17-2012 11:32 PM

Now that is cool! I would like to use this for our quilt show give-away. You can usually find them in a bundle at goodwill. Sooooooooo cute!

Sewfine 02-18-2012 01:48 AM

Yes, especially for the old wooden ones.

Future Quilter 02-18-2012 03:13 AM

What a great idea.

In my cleaning out yesterday I found a couple of things I could use for this. I started to throw the away but glad I did not now.

ItsJustMe 02-18-2012 06:28 AM

How creative! Would have never thought of that kind of use.

hperttula123 02-18-2012 08:25 AM

I love that!!!! I want one. How neat would that look to have a couple of those hanging together in the sewing room?!?!

Vanuatu Jill 02-18-2012 08:41 AM

Great idea-now I know what to do with my surplus hoops! I have a really big oval one that I thought I would like for hand-quilting, but find it a bit awkward, so I never use it. Might turn out nice! Thanks for posting the pic!

Divokittysmom 02-18-2012 09:00 AM

Very clever idea!!

Marysewfun 02-18-2012 11:09 AM

My husband would probably like the idea that it only needs one nail or hook to hang it. :-)

Cute idea. Thanks for sharing.

OHSue 02-18-2012 09:27 PM

I think this would be fun to make for knitting supplies, some small scissors, cable needles, stitch holders...

thrums 02-18-2012 10:07 PM

Sometimes we just have too much plastic storage. This would perk up any sewing room. Thanks for sharing.

bluteddi 02-19-2012 09:52 AM

oh wow.. this is great... I have several sizes of oval hoops that I think would work great with this idea!!!

Future Quilter 02-21-2012 04:22 AM

I came up with an old metal quilting hoop I'm going to do this on. Now I just need to pick the fabric, I'm thinking embrodery something on the top half of the fabric a solid color and a print of notions on the bottom half. I'll post as I get it done.

Future Quilter 02-25-2012 03:39 AM

The Metal hoop was to small so I got a big wood hoop.

Does anyone know how it looks on the back side? Is there a pattern?

I just laid the top fabric on the hoop, make sure it covers and hangs over a little all around the hoop. Then I placed a folded piece on the bottom half for the pocket.Pin it sew the lines to separate the sections for tools. then put it in the hoop and trim. I then glued a ribbon going around to hide the little bits of fabric edges and also glued a bow on top. This way the back was like a quilt back all one piece of fabric. good luck. very easy and quick.

p.s. Mine is the blue one on page 3

Ooh! I really like that, such a great idea.

Ruby the Quilter 05-17-2012 11:20 AM

What a great idea. I have a small collection of scissors with handles like girls, cats, etc. This wold be a great way of displaying the handles.
