I found this at a gargae sale in the mid- ninties and I could not figure out how to change the name and other information that had been embroidered on the bottom of it. So, it has been hiding amoungest my UFO's in my sewing closet all this time. I ran across it the other day while cleaning out the closet. I decided it was time to use or lose it. I just cut the bottom off where all the info was.
There was a small issue of staining from the coral embroidery thread and the fabric is so thin you can see through it to the huge knots she had made and the skip stitches from one part of the design to the other. But, it was just so dog gone cute, I went ahead and pieced it and quilted it yesterday. I used shout on the stains to pre-soak and they came out fine. But, you will see there was nothing to be done about the shadowing from the threads. A small close up to see the shadowing Finished and washed .. A magnificent rescue! I'm sure the original maker would be thrilled that you saved her creation.

Wow, that came out really nice. I can see the stains before washing, but you did great getting them out.
Very clever to cut off the part that had a name. So glad you finished it into something usable today. Nice job! |
I thought about her a lot while finishing her quilt. I thought it was a shame not to bring it out so it could be seen and used.

That is so pretty. You've done a great job with this!

Oh, what a sweet quilt! I love how you finished it!

Oh I forgot to tell you, the date of birth showed august 8 1982 .... And, the sashing strips were left overs from a warm wishes quilt I made.

Very cute!! Great rescue!

Oh. I like what you did with it. Great save. It is such an adorable quilt.

You did a great job saving the quilt  Too bad the original person didn't think enough of it to save it  So sad
