Veteran's Quilts
4 Attachment(s)
Three more Veteran quilts finished this week! Whew! That makes four this month so far, so guess I'd better take a break and do some other stuff waiting in the wings.
These all measure approximately 50" X 60". This one was made from $2/yard remnants for a total cost of $6 for the top, and a garage sale find for the backing. Again, all the fabric was either remnants or garage sale/estate finds. I didn't have a lot of the floral fabric, so cut it into strips and diagonally pieced them. When that was done I cut them in half without realizing where that diagonal seam would fall...so had to find a way to cover the seams, hence the stems with appliqued flowers cut from leftover scraps. It sort of gives the illusion of looking through a garden gate? Close up of the flowers and echo quilting. The owl fabric was given to me by a neighbor. Once I'd cut it and added the batting and backing I realized it was supposed to be used for a cloth book. LOL Well, it worked out just fine and I'm sure some veteran will be happy to have it! |
