Vintage/Antique Quilt
2 Attachment(s)
I found this top at an antique store years ago and recently unearthed it from my stash. I don't know how old it is, but looks like 1930's to 1940's (?) The piecing was done with a coarse cotton thread and done as though by a beginner. I just love it, since it is truly a scrap quilt and probably done as a first project by a family that didn't waste a thing. Most fabrics are feed sack and a few look like they came from scraps from clothing. Note the Confederate flag fabric. I hand quilted it in simple outline quilting and backed it with natural muslin.

what a great quilt!

It may also have been made by an elderly lady who no longer had precise stitching skills. Enjoy this charming quilt from the past.

An interesting bow tie quilt. I think the fabric is more like the 50s but I am no expert.

That is awesome. While I love new quilts with beautiful fabric and intricate patterns, there is just something about a quilt like yours that warms my heart. Thank you for sharing.

I have 2 hand stitched quilt tops one of which has a variety of material types in it that I hope to learn how to use my used long arm on once I can get DH to figure out how to get the frame back together. Is this a bad idea to use a machine to quilt on a hand sewn quilt?

What a treasure!
