I just got this quilt off the machine. My BFF found this top at an estate sale over 20 yrs ago -----for (drum roll)... $.25 --- that's 25 CENTS!!!! It was hand pieced......and had a LOT of issues. I was able to finally get it to lay flat, though I think it has a record number of "pleats" to get it to lay flat. I'll be tacking those down and binding it in the future. :) It's about 80 x 90" or so. I LOVED doing this -- the fabrics were beautiful! Oh -- this is all freehand.....no computer .....

Beautiful quilt and you did a great job finishing this. To think she paid a quarter for it. Your friend is going to love it.

I love this quilt and am so glad it found a deserving home. How sad that all that work was sold for 25 cents.

A lot of hours and dedication went into this top -- and your caring takes it to the next level....may you slept well under this for years to come.

Beautiful job. I once hand quilted a DWR my grandmother made in the 60's. It had lots of puckers when I first started but at the end it laid flat.

Diane007 01-11-2013 08:18 AM

wow nice quilting and quilt

Murphy1 01-11-2013 08:25 AM

What a treasure. So sad for the quilter that worked on this years ago. I am glad you brought it to its glory and shared it with us. Such a beauty you now have. The quilting enhances it even more.

amandasgramma 01-11-2013 04:55 PM

Thank you everyone!!!

Suebee -- I used MetroEmb Thread. It's an economical poly thread....in a zillion colors. It has a sheen to it. Check it out....www.metroemb.com

I was just catching up on 'looking' and found your quilt! I can't believe that some one would have put that in a garage sale for .25...even 20 years ago! I have been looking at your close up photos of the fabrics...what great fun to just sit and look! You did a really glorious job of quilting it. I hope the little lady that sewed the top is looking down and smiling that now her quilt is FINALLY done! Enjoy!

daisydebby 01-20-2013 06:12 PM
