Looks like many of the fabrics were "salvaged"

It lays flatly.

That's so pretty, I love Dresden Plate blocks.

Very pretty!!! :D:D:D
Do you have more of these?

bearisgray 05-23-2010 01:09 PM

There are 42 total - as far as I can tell, there are no holes in any of them.

I did notice that three of them had small stains on them. (There may be more, but that's all I noticed when going through them.)

Oh my, that is beautiful. What a great quilt they would make. What are your plans for them?

sharon b 05-23-2010 01:43 PM

What a find ! Will you put them in a quilt ?

bearisgray 05-23-2010 02:05 PM

I would like to sell them - but right now I have three or four unsold things in the classifieds - and I don't want to overdo a good thing.

Pretty. I have some similar to that but mine didn't lay flat. Had to re-sew a lot of them. Aren't the vintage fabrics fun!

Those look like feedsack blocks! What a treasure!

MisBehavin' 05-23-2010 04:22 PM

I made a feedsack lap quilt for my greatniece and it's always very nostalgic working with them. My SIL gave me about 20 large size ones. Treasures.
Yep, I did wear homemade feedsack undies, made by my Mom, when I was small. The older they got the softer they were.
BIG if you do decide to sell them, let us know. I might have a NEED for them. Something to help me coming down from completing the Texas Jane.

Very nice! What a great find.

Very nice. I have to ask where did you get them from or were they yours already?

bearisgray 05-24-2010 09:07 AM

My Mom acquired them on one of her travels. I'm reasonably sure she did not make them.

I had never seen them before we were going through her stuff after she died.

I miss her. She was such a talented woman. (She's a tough act to follow.)

Oh dear bearisgray ... I am sorry for your loss. I know what you mean about missing your mom. Mine is gone too. But, I always smile when I think of her now. The things she said to me and the things she did for me live in my memory gently now. When I get sad, I change my thoughts to remember those good times.
Now I pass it forward to my little ones in my life for thier memories when I am gone.

I love the blocks by the way. They sure are some nice old fabrics. Wouldn't it make a cool framed picture or pillow?
