I love the blocks you have done. I have hankies that belonged to my grandmother and mom that I would love to make a quilt using them.

Beautiful, wish I had kept all my grandma's old hankies. Who knows where they went.

Can you share the directions for how you folded the hankies. It is different from what I have seen before.

Each hanky has a design on its own... I just tried to fold each one to feature what was outstanding on that hankie. I used my iron and starch then pinned it to the block and sewed it down just staying close to the edge and getting all the edges. Each one is turning out just a bit different.

Here is the layout.... the center block is sewn but the others are not.
Not the best picture... the center block has matching sashes on it and the rest I am using purple.

My machine is at the repair shop... so I am in a stall now.... it is hard to have her gone.

they are lovely. i have some myself and must think of something to do with them too.

I also did a search by hanky and handkerchief and got some better ideas, I like the ones that use more than one hanky on the block, like it is a scrap block..

I saw a pattern once a long time ago in which the hankies were the wings of a butterfly. I see janell has some butterflies in her hanky quilt- very pretty!
