I found this treasure in a thrift store several years ago. The newspaper shows to be the Denison Herald with Sherman news and the date of April 25, 1932. All things considered it is in pretty good shape.
I enjoy looking at the old pieces of paper with comics and "Flapper Fanny". Before my time, anyway! |

It's so nice to see someone from East Texas here. I have a friendship quilt top that I purchased in Paris, TX a few years ago... it would be nice if it could go to somebody that knew some of the people named on it....
Do you know any folks in that area? Let me know if you do please.. |

I am not sure but I think they are called gazette quilts. The ladies would get the same paper and it was the same size. So they could separately do blocks and they would all be the same size. What a treasure you have found.

That is so cool! I'm from the Sherman/Denison area, born and raised. Hubby's uncle's family lived in Azle for years, too. Neat!

L know about paper piecing but thought that the paper was removed after it was finished before putting quilt together.

I have a top from the St. Louis area with 1935 newspaper stil attached. It's a lot of fun to see the prices of things!
