This is the Singer class 15 treadle I got a few weeks ago. My first project on it is this vintage type apron similar to the one I made in 6th grade a very long time ago. It is really fun to use and brings back a lot of memories. Right now I am making a scrap quilt with a box of old scraps I got in an antique store. I have about 60 quarter square triangle blocks made, all on the treadle. I have been more productive on this the last few days than I have the last 6 months on my 3 other machines. Wonder what that's all about?

How fun! ENJOY!

Awwww.... I like the machine and the apron. I really like the idea that the treadle has really taken hold of you. I need to get mine taken care of so that I can use it.

i have a treadle that my great aunt had. it was her only machine and she sewed everything on it. i have never used it and i have had it since 1999. i know that it needs a belt and i know where to get one-i just haven't done it. maybe one of these days.......

Go for it sewmom. It is really a kick. My aunt has a treadle dating back to 1918 that I played on as a kid, belonged to Grandma. I told her about this one and she said "why didn't you ask for mine?" So I said, I would love to have yours. and she said "Umm, I still like to look at it". So much for that! Oh well, this satisfies me. At least for now.

I have a treadle that was my DGF's, but it too needs a new belt! One of these days when I'm thinking about it and have the extra time, I'll get it working!

I love your apron! It looks just like the aprons my Mamaw used to wear. I ordered some bobbing for my treadle machine and I can't wait to get them! I have lots of 's reproduction fabrics to make a scrappy quilt.

That's what I was going for SherriB. It reminds me of old. Once y'all get started, maybe you will become hooked like I did

What a beautiful machine and such a cute apron.

That looks like my mom's 1940ish machine. I learned to sew on it. I pieced my first 9 patch on it. My grandmother and aunt then put my blocks into a quilt and quilted it. It was a treadle machine as we didn't have electricity when she first got her machine.

Aw, beautiful apron and wonderful machine!

Stitchnripper 05-31-2010 06:30 PM

thanks all. It is easier than it seems, just have to remember to give the wheel a turn before starting. It's like riding a bike - comes back. Will post pictures of the quarter square triangle blocks maybe tomorrow.
