wall hanging
1 Attachment(s)
my best friend gave me her old dress to make a quilted item for her. Since she is an avid gardner I decided to make her a wall hanging. This is from a pattern, modified a bit. In the middle block ' Love Grows in my Garden' will be written. The kit instruction says to use a marking pen, but I think that I would rather hand embroidered.
Has anyone used a pen and will it stay, not fade? |

that is adorable,great job

That is adorable......I have used paint pens and as long as they dont stick the item in the dryer, it stays great.
That is sooooooooo cute. I love it. Nice job.
So sweet! Hand embroidery will add a special touch to this beautiful wall hanging!
Very nice!

Oh my, that is lovely. What a great idea. She will love it. I always hand embroider my wordings. Just use a pencil lightly to write out the words, them stem stitch over it. Works every time. Practice on a separate piece first to see if you will like it.

Soooooo cute.
Very nice quilt. I love your creativity and how you made the center block.
really cute I know she will love it

From a snowy North Dakota - I love your wall hanging. Reminds me that spring is really on its way. Your friend is lucky!!!
Very cute - shew ill love it. I use pencil to draw the letters, then stem stitch over it. Micron pens work too but practice your letters before you start, there is no undo. Good luck.
That is really cute and clever. Nice job.
What a great idea and a great job. Nice work!
Nice! Makes me wish I could plant a garden.
Lucky friend! It's just beautiful (I am a gardener too). I would embroider the words...I think it adds a little more dimension than pens.
Very cute. I think embroidery would be the best for the writing. Some of the markers that are permanent on some things will wash out eventually of fabric. Also some of them will run in the threads making it look messy.
Nice...A lovely reminder that spring can't be far away.
Thanks for sharing such a lovely quilt hanging. |
That is adorable

I have used the sharpie permanent pens on my quilts for putting my lables on the back of quilts and have washed and dried them and the writing has stayed on, don't think that you will have a problem if you used a pen. But think that if you embroidered them it would look even more beautiful and cute. By the way nice job. It is really a sweet wall quilt. Your friend will really love and enjoy it for years to come. :)
