wall hanging

My daughter entered my wall hanging that I had made for my granddaughter's birthday in the local 4H Fair in the Miscellaneous Quilt Category--What a surprise! It got a blue ribbon. My granddaughter rode her horse in the Christmas parade so I made a panorama photo quilt of it. It was a challenge but fun and well worth the effort.:)

That is a wonderful memory quilt!

QuiltE 08-08-2013 08:15 AM

Looks like it's be a great quilt ... would love to see a better picture, of the picture!

Though ... entering your quilt in a 4-H Fair?
Shouldn't it be something that a 4-H'er made?

What a wonderful quilt! It looks like it was a good parade too.

Love it! Such a great idea and memory!

Well done on both counts, completing the wall hanging and collecting the blue ribbon.

narnianquilter 08-09-2013 05:58 AM

Beautiful! How did you do the photo part?

hooverevelyne 08-09-2013 06:41 AM

Narnianquilter: I had my son take pix with his digital camera--then I printed them using June Taylor fabric paper for computer and ironed onto background(sly and road) after cutting out selected parts of pictures. Took pictures of buildings before parade started when no one was there yet. Added parade photos in front of buildings.

QuiltE--they have special division for non-4H pay to enter

Thanks for the clarification.
Also thanks for the "how to"!
I'd still really like to see the full photo ... even if it is the one before it is the pre-printed one. Great idea!

I was wondering, where is the picture from hooverevelyne? It is such a tiny sweet Christmas parade.

Congratulations on your win and a lovely expression of your pride to your granddaughter.

Great pic ... and what a wonderful to hold onto that memory.

congrats... nicely done

Sallyjane 08-21-2013 01:05 PM

Very nice!

Would love to know the technique you used. The photo part almost looks like a Currier and Ives. Were you able to superimpose a picture of your granddaughter on her horse on to the fabric photo. However you did it it's quite a lovely wall hanging.

Thank you--I had a good time figuring out how to do it. Then made another of my son in biking event in NYC
