wallets and lanyards

2 Attachment(s)
I saw the free pattern and tutorial for these cute little wallets and the lanyards on SewCanShe, who found the pattern on The Sewing Loft......just to give full credit where credit(s) are due. These are not my idea or invention.

Making these became addictive and before I knew it I had made 8, with accompanying lanyards. Until this project I was not acquainted with fusible fleece, but I love that stuff! And to my amazement I already had a roll of the iron on interfacing tape for the lanyards. I did have to go buy the rings and the clasps, of course. I attached the clasps to the wallet instead of to the lanyard because the tutorial suggested they can be hooked to belt loops on pants or shorts. The wallets are for when carrying a purse is not desirable, and are meant to hold credit cards, or folded bills, or maybe some loose change, though since they only snap, change could be lost, I guess. The finished size (closed) is 5 inches by 3 1/2 inches.

But I confess now that I have 8 made, I have no idea who I'll give them to. I think young women or girls would appreciate and use them more than older women. But what do I know? :p

Anyway, they were fun and quick to make! And I offer them here as an idea for a quick gift. The pattern is available for free download at SewCanShe.

Cute, I have similar fron VB, which also holds my mobile, I use when I need to pop to the store for a few items, I put phone and bank card inside, saves carrying a purse, BTW I'm not a young girl

These are so nice. I'm 65 and have a lot of scraps and know a few who would like these. Mall walkers would like these.

Yes, I thought about that. Also, our state fair is coming up and I think these would be nice for women who don't want to carry a purse while walking around all day.

Thanks, everyone, for your comments and compliments!

For me, I would use one going to garage sales.

Where do you get the lanyard hooks? I imagine they are at Hobby Lobby or Michael's, but what department?

I think us older ladies would like them. So much crime going on nowadays I carry a small cross body purse. I am a mall walker and that would be perfect for my drivers license and a few bucks and car key. I can't tell you how many times I've heard that so and so drove to the mall and left her purse in the care. It got broken into and the purse was stolen. Malls, and movie theaters are full of cars and are targets for thieves, don't leave your purse in the car.

Me, me, me - you can give one to me! Seriously, I am 66 and those are so cute.

I would love one for when I go walking, etc. They are an ideal size and yours look so well made! I can see these selling really well at craft/guild shows. Your color choices are great.

Do you have the link for the patterns?

I bought these at Jo-Ann's. They came in a package of 6, I think. I bought both bronze and silver and D rings to match, which I also got at Jo-Ann's.

Jo-Ann's has stuff like this in different locations; they apparently stock by manufacturer. You just kind of have to look all over. These were with lanyard cord, etc., and near the jewelry-making supplies.

Thanks! I mostly used scraps. Doesn't take a lot to make these. The clasps and rings are the only real $ investment in these. Well, and the fusible fleece.
