Shared in another post with a different topic, but I'm just so proud of my baby finally taking interest in quilting. Sure hope she keeps it up! She wanted to quilt BEFORE homework last night, and it took all that was in me to say no. Been sitting on the couch together quilting at night in front of the TV. I'm SEW happy.

Andrea, you were one of her inspirations to try it out, as were many of the other awesome wholecloth handquilters here.

She is so cute, and it looks like she has the "bug".

How fun! Here's to a next generation quilter! :)

Awesome.....and awesome mommy for saying no not before homework

mommamac 04-05-2011 04:53 AM

She's got the hang of it that's for sure.
Quilting as an incentive to get homework done, now that's a teacher's dream.

Sure wish I could sit like her. LOL

One of the great things, is she's actually making this little project for my new sewing room. :) I'll keep it forever.

That's just wonderful!!! Passing down the art! She's so cute and looks adorable with her quilting.
Thanks for sharing :D:D

AWWW! So nice to know another generation is coming up! She's just adorable, and the younger we start, the more it stays with us!

Fantastic-you are teaching her a real life skill she can enjoy for "forever"! My grandaughter is 13 and is a good little sewer, but I'll have to introduce quilting.

aw how cute!

The Barnett's 12" lap top frame really helps with teaching her. Here I thought it was MY travel frame. I think she'd really get frustrated if she had to hold the hoop AND work on her stitching, and the hoop keeps both her hands free. The last thing I want is have her think it's too hard and give up. She loves the portability of the lap frame (likes to sit on the couch), and it's a perfect size for her lap. Harry's a member here, and a good friend, too.

Nope, she's not finished yet. The last push with schoolwork and softball starting has set her back. I think she'll be back at it once she has some time free up. I'll definitely post a finished picture!
