A few weeks ago I had taken some 1 1/2" strips and started hand weaving them..... pinning as I went along. I knew I wanted to attempt to sew this weaved fabric together but wasn't sure if it could be done. Today I decided to start sewing it using the #29 stitch on my computerized featherweight machine.

Once I sewed about 1/3 of what I had weaved I decided to take my Accuquilt Go machine and applique dies and cut this crazy patched piece of fabric.

Attached are photo's of the weaved fabric (part of it) to show you how I did it. This peace is not sewed yet. Also are crazy patchwork of hearts, butterfly, dragon fly, bumble bee, stars, cat and dog.

I surprise myself when I experiment with fabric. I don't know if anyone has ever taken strips of fabric and weaved it and than sewed it and used it in crazy patchwork appliques but I have. I'm surprised at how good it looks in crazy patchwork appliques.

Ok! I took the left over scraps this morning... (not one to throw anything away like this) and I managed to cut a set of leaves from the accuquilt die and made a small heart and start of a flower with one left over leave.

It looks wonderful.

Of course I'm going to eventually top stitch the rest of the weave piece I have and use it somehow in some project, most likely make more appliques with it.

I realized that some of us trade off 1 1/2 inch squares on here and the same principal can be used with those. Put them side by side in rows of blocks and top stitch with a fancy stitch than when the block is complete either cut them into some block such as squares, triangles, retangles and such or do more applique shapes to use in future projects. With me it most likely will be used in creating shapes for applique in some projects.

I believe I will be experimenting with those little guys this week and see how it comes out.
