Wedding Quilt for Dear Friends' DD

2 Attachment(s)
this quilt has 6 different colours with 5 shades in each for a total of 30 different fabrics (plus the black of course). I am very proud to say that I only bought 3 pieces of fabric and the backing for this quilt. The rest came out of my stash. If I had to give it a name, it would be 'Perseverance'. Once again, I got an idea stuck in my head and then had to scramble to make it come together. I was also on a very tight timeline, because my sister's Longarmer (they are both in Saskatchewan) agreed to quilt this for me, while I was was visiting over Easter. Eva did a wonderful job!

It is bright and quite modern to my mind. Every time I look at it, it makes my heart smile. I really hope the newlyweds feel the same. Thanks for looking.

Oh, and I monogrammed the label plus several appropriate sayings onto the binding. Took way to long but I was happy with the final result.

WOW this quilt is gorgeous! Almost takes on the appearance of a bargello!

Where did you get the pattern? Or did you come up with it yourself?

Tessagin, I started to make this pattern which is very fat quarter friendly.

But because I was enlarging to a queen size from a lap size, the pattern was lost in the middle of the quilt. Plus I had too many colours. It just bacame a mismash. So I cut everything down to 7 inches and tried again. Then I realized that it was just too too busy. So I put the 1/4 inch reveal sashing between the strips. Doubled my work. Grrrrr....but happy with the final result. Worst was laying it all out. Had to do it on paper first, numbering each colour and lettering each shade, then laid it out on the dining room floor, then pinned each strip separately then took them all upstairs and sewed them. Got my exercise!!
