Well, It's quilted anyway

Had an odd request from my DD. They have a fireplace they don't use. Even with the doors closed, it is drafty. So she asked for a quilted hanging to cover the opening.
This is just scraps and batting strips...thinking about doing a roaring fire for the winter. |
I love your quit. Such a good interpretation for the needed area. Great Job!

what a great idea! You are so smart!
|
That's such a cute quilt! Do they have the flue closed? That usually take care of a lot of the draft.
|
Cute fireplace skirt!

Perfect interpretation

What a great idea! And yours is perfect!

That quilt looks really nice on the fireplace. That's a great idea.
I had the same problem with a drafty fireplace that I didn't use. I solved it by having someone put insulation in the flue opening. There are no more drafts, and it can be removed in the future if someone else wants to use the fireplace for it's intended purpose. |
What a great idea and your interpretation is wonderful.
Hope you share the roaring fire with us when you do it. (See, I am being positive that you will do it!) |
How very attractive! Even without the draft, the fireplace looks wonderful with its curtain!
|
Very pretty covering for the fireplace opening. Quite creative and wonderful idea. Beautiful fireplace by the way.

Very creative!

We lived in a very old house once with a fireplace that was drafty and let bugs in in the summer as there was no draft. It was that old. My ex built a barrier of plywood held upright with angle braces and handles on the front to move it with. He was able to line the back with tin so we could even put it back in place after we had a fire and were ready to retire for the night. You could paint the plywood or cover it with your quilt. Don't put it in place after a fire unless you have it lined with metal though or you know the fire is completely out.

Looks very nice.

Absolutely brilliant! They ask we create.

How smart of your DD to think of a quilt to cover the fireplace ...and I love your idea of a roaring fire. I really like the quilt you made from scraps.
|
Super clever and really pretty, absolutely perfect.

When I first looked at it I thought WOW how clever to make the quilt look like tree trunks, then I saw white birch trees, even better! Great idea.
|
That is lovely. What a unique idea.
