There was one heck of a Estate Sale about 45 minutes from where I live today. Funny though hardly any sewing stuff. I did pick up this box that I think is a sewing box but not really sure, here is what I know about it so far, been googling it and can't find anything on it.

Rich Oiled Oak Finish
Made by the Powell Co
Model #482
14"T x 15.5"W x 11.5"D

And following is pictures I have take of it

This is what it looks like on front and back, sides just has some brass handles on it.

Inside of it that little thing on the left holds it up.

Have to do some damage control here, already got new material picked out I think

Thinking of putting this material on the cushion. Its flannel and really pretty.

While I was there I also picked up some wall decorations made by Burwood Products which are vintage too.
If anyone else knows anything about this container sure would appreciate any info on it.

No idea but I think you scored and it would be perfect for storing sewing and or crafting items. I like the new fabric you picked out also.

It looks like a "hope" chest to me -- a place to store things made for a household start in the future. My hope chest in the 1960's was a primitive trunk that my grandmother brought from Germany in 1904. It was a slightly larger size, but didn't have the fancy hardware.
