you could make a obw, but the drapery weight fabric might be awfully bulky with all the seams. You could use it for a border or the focus blocks in a Warm Wishes. It's very pretty fabric, I'm sure you'll do something great with it.

Seeing you don't have a lot of fabric, I think 4 patch posy might be a better idea. It has fewer seams and you only need 4 identical repeats to make your squares. You then cut the identical squares into 4 and sew them back into a repeating block. There are many fine examples of 4PP in the picture gallery.

Pot holders?

Cut squares as big as you can and sash them with a coordinating color, til you've used up your fabric.
The ensuing quilt will last almost forever and be really pretty. Since it is heavy fabric, don't try to do anything fancy--you'll just get frustrated and be unable to make sharp edges, points, small pieces, etc. Ask me how I know. :) But I made several charity quilts out of similar fabric and they last and last and last. Go simple. |
you could go ahead and cut triangles but insert a regular cotton triangle in between them. the seams wouldn't be so thick that way.

This fabric would make a wonderful tot or purse.

Pretty fabric. Would be great as a wallhanging of some kind. just sew the large squares back together. Just an Idea.

When you have such large pieces ... I would consider it as a border for a quilt, or tablecloth.
Decide what size you want your finished piece and use 4 for the four sides .... and then stack the remainder for 4PPs, OBWs or SAWs for the centre of your border/frame, along with some other coordinating fabrics as needed to fill the space. Or if you don't want the kaleido effects, then choose a block pattern that you could FC the print and frame up with other fabrics. While it will be heavy, I don't think it would be out of the question ... stick with a poly batting to keep the weight under control. |
