Hi. I bought this one sewing panel at the Temple Sew & Quilt Store on Thursday. I could not resist buying the panel. Therefore, it came home with me. I have no idea what to do with it. Any suggestions? I would love to hear them.
thanks for your help. debra cny_sewer39 First side of panel.. Second side of panel. |
They are pretty. So you want to hem them? Are you going to just finish them the way they are?? Do you have any ideas how you want to use them?
|
I'd quilt them, mount to a frame and hange in my sewing room. do each sepratly or as a groop.
|
I wouldn't be able to resist that, either! Do you need a sewing machine cover? Or chair pockets? You could use the larger blocks to make a chair cover: a padded one for your shoulders, with inserts for rice socks ~ the the one that hangs off the back of the chair could hold rulers or whatever...
The smaller pieces could become scrap pockets, or sew together and make one of the travel wraps for scissors / rulers / pencils / tools? You gotta show us pics when you decide! :) |

I would not have been able to resist that either! In fact I wish one of my LQS had it so I could be tempted to bring it home too!
|
I would be tempted to quilt them and hang them in my sewing room, but, the ideas keep coming. A tote...a jacket...a lap quilt...a tote... a jacket...
|
I have the perfect soloution for you. SEND IT TO ME. LOL

applique on fabric panels and put into embroidery hoops and hang on the wall
got this out of an old magazine, showing what you can do with fabric display. |
I agree! I would not have been able to pass this up as well!!! Who makes this panel? I would love to find one (or two) also....I'm thinking one for me, one for a gift....Can't wait to see what you do with it!
|
tote bag!
|
I would do wallhangings. You know what intrigues me are the borders! I can see pincushions out of them. Sew a couple together and stuff. How cute!!
|
I would not have been able to resist either...that is why I have soooo much fabric stash. I would try to do a quilt/wall hanging. You may be able to look up on the fabric website to see what they did with it and get some ideas/inspiration from there. These kind of panels are tricky for a quilt or wall hanging just because of the odd sizes but you could always fabric frame them to come up with a universal size square and add fabrics from you stash to see what you come up with. Good luck and I'm sure whatever you decide will be great.

The side art (thread pin, cushion) Would be borders.
The large picture I would cut out leaving 1/4 of white material so hwn you sew it you won't be to mauch on the picture itself. The 2 smaller pictures I would sash them and place on top or bottom of the large picture. Or with the 2 smaller pictures, I would get material to blend with it and sew that material on both side of each picture and place them one on top and one on the bottom or the big picture. Clear as mud right? Hope this helps. |
Those panels are darling! I'd want to display them on a wall, myself.

I would make a wallhanging with it. Use the center panel as the center of the quilt then make some quilting blocks to go around the entire center. Maybe pinwheels, shoo fly blocks or even a variety. Then I would use the strips along the sides as a border. Cute fabric by the way.
|
I really like that panel!
How about a very large tote bag to carry your quilting notions for quilt classes? The large panel on one side, coordinating fabric on the other and those two small squares could be pockets. The border fabric could be a flap for the top or use it on the inside top of bag to add a little fun. |
That would make a great wall hanging for your sewing room!
|
Very cute panel. Here is a wall hanging pattern that Henry Glass & Co. did with the Sewing Room Social line of fabric.

How about a cover for your machine.
|
Aw, its adorable!!!!!!!!!! I would make a quilted wall hanging for your sewing area!
|
I think I would do a group of wall hangings with the blocks. I would use the border print for a faux wall paper border on the wall with the blocks? (maybe Modge Podge)At a chair rail height or a ceiling height, whatever looked the best.
|
If you can't think of a thing to do with those pieces of fabric. I will figure something to do with them. LOL LOL LOL
|
Make quilted pictures for your sewing room or leave whole, put borders on it and call it a quilt and quilt it. I think it will be pretty no mattter which you do.

Oh! Got it!
What about a quilted cover for your sewing machine using the larger pieces. Maybe use the smaller squares glues to lids of square supply boxes |
This would make a great shop hop tote. The large motif on the front and the two smaller for pockets and the border for decoration. It's a really cute panel.

I'd make wall hangings of the bigger ones, and maybe a small runner or pin cushions from the little ones~
