Oh, I don't know what to do and I thought - oh my quilting friends can help me out. This is a Fassett inspired quilt. I've got most of the pieces laid out as suggested by his example but it's not speaking to me. Any ideas?

Are they all rectangles? Not stitched together? If they are seperate what about lights to mediums to darks........like dawn in the AM? calla

See the "pinwheel" type pattern in the light tan? That's how they're supposed to be arranged and then of course, I can do anything I want with the colors. I'll see if I have enough to do a light to dark thing - that's a good idea.

The Pattern 'works' but you need more contrast. I assuming that your fabric is batik. The beige w/blue right next to blue w/beige - the 'pinwheel' doesn't pop! May I suggest that you take a picture then view it in black and white or take the picture in black and white. THEN you will see the contrast and no contrast. Good luck

The black and white answers a lot doesn't it. Using this as a guide you could work the colors darkest to lightest, maybe diagonally. I think it would make a big difference.

That black and white trick is really wonderful. I hope it helped you. I just love the people on this board, they are so knowledgeable.

I know! Isn't it great?! This little quilt is a challenge cuz it's not supposed to be matchy-matchy. Love working with colors

Are all the pieces rectangles? And if so what size are they? This looks like something I'd really like to try :)

Becky13 05-30-2011 04:59 PM

They're all rectangles - 3 1/3 x 6 1/2. Fassett focuses on colors and not so much a difficult pattern so they're really fun to do

Thanks sew much, Your quilt will be beautiful when finished. I've been trying to find quick and easy multi fabric "scrap" quilts, this was really helpful. I like the pattern very much.
