I adopted a couple panels and not sure how to make them come alive. I thought I'd SID around blocks on outer border but stumped about the middle since the fabric is prequilted. Have any of you done a similar project? Suggestions?

how about quilting an outline around the animals?

Maybe just add a binding.

The quilt looks great the way it is prequilted. Just add a binding and a cute quilt label.

Yes ... sometimes too much of a good thing ... is too much of a good thing. Just add a GREAT binding.

I did that exact panel for my DGS when he was a baby. I was really lazy and just trimmed it even, rolled over the edge to make a fat binding and hand stitched around.

What about taking coodinating thread to the stitch work on the overalls, the cables on the sweater, etc? That way you have stitching that won't necessarily interfere with the prequilted look.

I would just leave the middle bit as is...could look a bit busy with anything extra.

I think it looks great the way it is. Additional quilting may make it too stiff. Just add a binding.

If you feel like it's too flat, just do a little random outline quilting, maybe around one block, one of the bear heads, a bunny ear, less is more on a prequilted panel. It's a beautiful panel.

I also think it looks great the way it is and would stick to simply quilting the border and binding. As one of the old standby sayings goes, "KISS - Keep it Simple Stupid" (And don't take it personally, cuz I don't by any means think you are stupid. Quite the contrary, it is smart to ask for suggestions when you are unsure.) Let us know what you end up doing.

Just put on the binding. It is so cute!

Really cute the way it is!

I love it! It's so colorful. I have cut out the dog, duck & little bear from other panels.

When I use these prequilted panels, I just square it up & put a binding on. These are fast & easy!!

I think it's great the way it is. Such an adorable panel!! And pre-quilted - what a deal....

ann clare 11-17-2010 02:07 PM

Looks good to me. I would just add binding.

boohoofish 11-17-2010 02:08 PM

I would use a bright red binding.

Kitsapquilter 11-17-2010 04:18 PM

I agree to just leave the center like it is, quilt the border and find a cute binding. Love the blue jeans teddy.
