What do you think?

This is a project I am working on in between others. I'm hoping to get a lap quilt done for my sister for Xmas. This is what I have done so far. I'm deciding on borders really how many. I took this picture on my bed which is a queen size to gauge the size. There is no pattern for this I'm doing it as I go along. As you do. Love to know what you all think. It will make the other one I doing for my other sister easier to plan.

How about a creamy? (background to the flower print) border and then bind in a purple (like the dotted fabric). That's how my monitor shows the colours.

I think. I would add another row down the side then put borders on which will go over the sides. If not a small borde have size of the block then a deep border. Could put a small faux border in somewhere to frame

I also think this is a nice color combo for your quilt

Really looks good.

If you have more of the floral, add a thin border of it and then a slightly wider border of the purple. That should top it off nicely. It is looking great!!! You have done a good job!

I'm no help but it sure looks good so far!

I would do a border in the background color and finish with a wide border of the purple print. Another row of the blocks first would make it bigger. Then I would continue with the above borders. A lot depends on the finished size you want it to be.

It is looking beautiful!

Thanks all for your comments. I hadn't thought of using a cream? I don't have any more of the floral blocks they were bought as a precut kit for a block. I decided to put them on point and added the green. I'll mull it over and see what I have in the stash

I think is so very beautiful.

Pretty fabrics.

I love it. I would place a narrow (?) 2 1/2" wide strip of the green, then a 1 1/2" strip of the purple print and a wider one of the green after. You can use corner stones of a solid purple in the borders. Ir is beautiful.

I think it is very pretty and your sister is going to love it. Personally I like multiple borders on most quilts so keep up the good work and post a photo when finished, I'm betting it will be lovely.

I like 2 boarders, one narrow and the outer one wider. This is sure pretty.

cpcarolyn 07-18-2013 06:58 AM

Great quilt. Good job.

IBQUILTIN 07-18-2013 11:36 AM

ditto what #1peicemaker said. You are doing a great job and if you add much more border it won't be a lap size.

quilt addict 07-18-2013 01:50 PM

Very nice what you have put together and think it is about the right size for a lap quilt. I would go with a narrow border then a wider one. I was thinking a dark purple or darker green for the narrow border. Then you could do the something with what you have left for a pieced border. If you did a cream 2nd border maybe applique some flowers and vines.

ging10ging 07-18-2013 02:09 PM

Very pretty. Sue

How about a dark lavender or purple framing border and then a floral outside border in the fabric you used. I love how fresh it looks.
