What fabric colors are appealing to you right now
Do you get on a kick about a certain color and buy fabric like crazy while you are in this mood? Lately grass green, for lack of a better description, has caught my eye and I see that shade in everything around me, including television commercials. Thinking about quilting something in this shade of green paired with a crisp white-on-white. Also bought a bunch of bright turquoise fabrics from Connecting Threads. Not sure if I'm going to pair them with a modern lime green, or do something in a vibrant pink with the turquoise. Also seem to have orange on the brain.......... and I've seen that with turquoise too. I've gone so far as to actually dream about fabric shopping for two nights in a row this week. What is strange to me, is that I usually quilt in warm, subdued colors (Kansas Troubles line). Must be the colors I'm now attracted to, are as happy and lively as I feel myself, enjoying week three of early retirement. I'm amazed how much sewing I'm getting done with 40 additional "me" hours going on.

Red and teal, the Modern vintage line from moda....IN LOVE I am!
Teal always grabs me , any time any place !
I usually make baby quilts so I have a lot of children motifs with solids or batiks. Then I helped a woman at work make her first quilt with 'adult' fabrics and realized I was missing out on so many fabric designs!
I too have been buying a lot of green, mostly lime green.
Lime green, orange, turquoise are great together!
Red/orange
Spring has sprung!!
blues and yellows!!
I am just dying to work some orange into something
Lately I have wild about kaleidoscope quilts and I am always on the lookout for materials that have repeating patterns. The wilder the better because it makes for very interesting quilts. I'm making one now and will post when I am further along.
I'm usually doing things in bright colors. I also like the vivid autumn colors. However, right now I am into using yellow.
I love green, but lately Red is my favorite
Blue, always blue. Along with the brightest colours imaginable.
Yellow is always a favorite. I like the clear colors, nothing muddy. I don't like blues unless it is a sky blue.
Dark, rich colours....but my last "phase" was lights and brights. I do have favourites, but quilting allows me to go nuts with the whole colour spectrum:)
I like all colours, purple and red are probably my favorites
lime green is my new favorite color......so why do I have three stacks of blue on my stash shelf? sigh.
I understand. Just retired too and just started to quilt. So much to learn and so much fabric!
Must be the season for green, me too :)
sounds like SPRING FEVER to me...
i as what my mother always called (her rainbow child) i like color! all colors! i have had to force myself (personal challenges) to use black & white a couple times---those have turned out very cool---of course i did add some red---but it was very hard for me to work with the black & whites- even though to look at them i really like them...as you can tell from my quilt pictures---i'm pretty (fearless) when it comes to color! I love it all!!! |
Blues and Yellow also. Makes a lovely combo.
Purple. I had to leave the quilt store the other day because I promised myself NO purple. Yesterday at church I had a green top on. Three people came up to me and said what no purple. Guess I need an intervention.
I like pinks, purples, mostly cool colors, and love brights! Am thinking I need to do a happy summer quilt in fun brights!
I always look at the lavender/purple fabric and usually leave the store with at least one piece.
I am a pink and purple person but I have been buying all shades of brown and tan. My sister thinks there is something wrong with me. lol Of course there are still plenty of pinks and purples in my fabric cart.
I love grey! I have a lot of grey fabrics, and also turquoise/teals. I love deep eggplant/ aubergine purples, but I have almost no purple in my stash. I've been on the lookout for orangey pinks like salmon and melon lately.
1930's colors! I am going to start my first 30's quilt very soon.
Im making Sylvia's Bridal Sampler in pastels, so right now it's pink, soft yellow, blue, lavendar, soft green and aqua.
I'm not so much a "color" buyer as a "type" buyer. My faves (always) Civil War repros, cottage-y (think Robyn Pandolph), 1930's repros, Kansas Troubles, patriotic. Lately I've been more batiks & nature-inspired fabrics (for quilts for my DH).
Teal, aqua or any blue.
I love teal and coral together.
Pink & lime green... pink & orange
Just finished a lime green & pink baby "Tumbler" quilt and have another one with pink & orange ready to go!
I also have been thinking a lot about purple & yellow lately - turqoise & brown! |
Anything bright! I love the Spring colors!! :)
