From the field cotton growing, the cotton gin, and loaded on the truck.
when I stopped by the gin, I did not see Eli Whitney. |
We have Cotton Ginning Days here. Big festival.

Yep, we have that around here about this time of year. My grandpa used to grow cotton. I remember standing in the cotton field next to his house and the cotton was taller than me. I think it's grown shorter now for the cotton picker machines.

How fascinating! Thanks for showing me something I have not seen!

Brings back childhood memories of cotton growing in the fields in South Carolina. Of course we picked it by hand then.
Thanks for the pictures. Sandy 64 |

thanks for the tour. have not seen this before.

Very interesting. I've not seen those type of photos. I think everyone I know my age has picked cotton but me! I was a city girl growing up but am all country now. I stopped on my way to work one morning at a cotton field that had no fence around it and picked a couple so I could say I have picked cotton. lol

What a sweetheart you are for posting it so those of us who can't travel south can see how it truly is done. How marvelous. I bet it is a very dirty job, but how wonderful to see the work that goes into our fabric. Thank you so much.

So glad ya'll have liked the pics. I wonder how many yards is on one truck load when processed?
