Well I was playing outside with my 4th and 5th graders today a rousing game of kickball. Was having a blast , was running home and literally got took down by one of my 5th grade boys. It was an accident but I am hurting like crazy on my right knee which has a contusion but ironically no bruise on the outside skin and a place on my head and light bruises on my palms where i tried to catch myself. Here are the pics of my head cause these are the only ones that even remotely came out good.

I'm thinking you need to stick with quilting and not kickball. ;)

henryparrish76 03-18-2008 03:44 PM

LOL....well I will only be the pitcher from now on...LOL:):)

Wow, that's quite swollen Henry. Do you know to watch for vomiting or unusual sleepiness as sign of concussion? If you get that, go get checked out. You're gonna have quite a bad headache, for quite awhile i bet

henryparrish76 03-18-2008 04:48 PM

Yeah I was watched all day while I was at school and all so I am fine just very very sore

henryparrish76 03-18-2008 06:14 PM

No I was spending the day with my kids who kept apologizing for the smackdown....lol

Celeste 03-18-2008 06:40 PM

I was gonna ask how the boy is... I'm sure he feels bad. I'll bet the kids just love having you as their teacher!

Feel better soon!

henryparrish76 03-18-2008 07:47 PM

Join that Joy Fit Club and get in shape...........a lot less accidents my son figured that out after his concussion and is slowly getting his weight down, and said it is easier to move around :D take care Henry

I used to play backyard football with my older brother and his friends. I was the center and pass receiver--we had to cover several spots. One day I was kneed in the back of the head and boy oh boy the headache the next day was incredible. The school nurse sent me home and I was whisked off for x-rays. Not a skull fracture--just a concussion, but I had headaches for 6 months. And since the doc scolded my mother for allowing me to play football with the boys, that part of my life was over. :(

I did a cartwheel for my 5th graders the other day, but I grade papers when they're playing kickball.

Henry--being the pitcher sounds like a good idea. :D

Karla,

Cartwheel? Man, the talents you have!

Henry, Henry, Henry!!! Don't you know that adults should NOT PLAY kids games??? Now you know the reason why!! Hope you feel better in a day or two. :-)

henryparrish76 03-20-2008 05:38 PM

LOL:)LOL:)

Belinda 03-21-2008 02:23 PM

OUCH!!

henryparrish76 03-21-2008 02:24 PM

all healed up now:)

nantucketsue 03-22-2008 12:39 PM

That's nothing. You should have seen the bruise on my backside and I wasn't kicking any balls! Just slipped on the stairs. Got up rubbed myself down and within a few days I had a map of the world with all the shades and colours on my rear. Worse was to come which prevented me from quilting for a while, but that's another story. Hope your bruises heal quickly but perhaps you should give up kick ball and take up dribbling........ and mind how you come down the stairs!

Henry ~ I work with kids also and love to interact with them...BUT...at some point we must admit and face up to the truth we can no longer keep up with them and some games are just for kids...lol. Challenge them to a board game and put the "beat down" at the table.

Happy Quick Healing 8)
