I want to make my DMIL a quilt using charms. I've already purchased most of the charms I think I'll need. I have made one quilt from charms (pictured below) and I just sewed the charms together. I'm wondering what others may have done using only charms (except for sashing and borders). Please post a picture of yours to give me some ideas! Thanks!

This is s very pretty quilt. Love all the color. I haven't used charms yet.

I don't use charms, but you could do a D9P or D4P with them. Or pinwheels would be good, too.
I love your charm quilt top - it makes me feel warm and happy. |

I have never used prepackaged charms. However I have used my own 5" Squares to make a twister wall hanging. That was fun. I want to try and make a quilt. (I used a tut on this board to make up my own twister template.)

Love your quilt, I have a couple of charm packs too, haven't decided what to do with them yet, Probably will incoporate blocks into baby quilts and use for doll quilts.

In the process of making YoYos....long way to go yet.

Beginnings of a D9P using charms. For a charity kids quilt.

I made a twister one day last week from a couple of 5" charm packs. Came out great, was fun and easy.
|
I am making a D4P with scrappy charms. I had a lot of 4.5 and 5" squares so decided I'll make disappearing blocks and twister with them. I have about 20 of the disappearing 4 patches made. Since I only sew on weekends, it'll be a while.

I just did mug rugs...sorry I can't post pics but the recipients haven't received them yet (it was for a swap on the board)!! :)

I just purchased some charm packs and haven't decided yet what to make - I like your quilt - its so bright and pretty.

I've made several wall hangings and lap quilts using charms. I have some Dresden plate blocks ready to put together using charms. Here's a couple pics.

I'll post a pic when I get home, I sewed charms into 4 patches then used those 4 patches as one block and am making 10 minute blocks from them so one huge block (18") takes 20 charms, but it's looking pretty kewl!

I have the Nickel Quilt and Nickel Quilt Two books and have made quilts from them. They turned out really nice.

The classic definition of a charm quilt, is that there is only one piece of each fabric. No duplicates. So a true charm quilt is a collection that takes lots of time.
When you buy a set of charms, you will notice that there is only one piece of each design. These sets usually don't have enough ingredients to make a quilt, so you have to buy yardage to complete many projects. A tote bag or table topper can easily be a "charm" |

I'll be sure not to call my quilt a "charm quilt", but it will be a quilt made from charms. And, I really enjoy seeing everyone's pics of their creations too! |
If Moda and RJR sell them as charm packs, then my quilts are made with charms. I did have to add some of my own fabrics to the 'How Charming'. The rjr charms were rather dark and I'm a fan of bright.

Woops - just realized that the one in your photo is already finished, will you use similar colors for the next one? I just love those bright oranges and pinks and picture them with a very crisp white. |
