Was too nervous to work on Steven's quilt the last two weekends. I'll be working on his with help this weekend to finish quilting the borders and then it's binding binding binding. He arrived back in USA safely from Iraq this weekend. He'll be here on leave in 3 weeks. We are so happy his deployment is over, until the next one.
Here is what I worked on the last 2 weekends. Repeating Gramma's Sampler for a girl at work. I absolutely hate the fabrics, but I got as close as I could to the original colors. No blooming pansies this time, blooming tulips. 1. Grandmother's Fan 2. First off give Steven a BIG THANK YOU from us ! Glad he made it back safely.
The blocks are wonderful ! I am a pastel person, so I love the colors  Sharon |
Very nice job on the quilt blocks even tho they're not your favorite colors. They'll look great in your sampler quilt. Glad your son is coming home--thank you, Steven for all you've done and bless you!!
|
Welcome home Steven! Your sampler is looking good.
|
To Stephen---THANK YOU for all you do for your country.
To MPeters1200; how very productive you've been. They look so nice :) |
I hope to get some pictures from son Steven's quilt posted here. It's a patriotic stairway to heaven with army fabric on the back. I think it turned out really wonderful. I'll post pics of it as soon as I can.
When Steven comes home in 3 weeks, I'll show him the thread for his quilt. I don't think he realizes that there are still people out there who appreciate military folk. |
"Welcome home", to your son.
Your blocks look great. |
Woohoo! Welcome home!
You've done a great job with those! |
So glad he'll be home soon--I know how relieved you must be! Your sampler is gorgeous! I think it's good for us to work on things that aren't necessarily "our" colors--helps you to see things in a whole new way sometimes!
|
Wonderful work there. I'm sure you are quite relieved to have your son home. I can only imagine how hard it is to see them go.
|
wonderful work and beautiful blocks and many thanks to your son and WELCOME HOME! God Bless.
|
Beautiful blocks!!!
|
Ooh, you made a Patience Corner block! I was going to do one for my sampler quilt, but then I read that it's hard, that it takes a lot of patience. Was it hard for you? If so, what is hard about it?
(See, butterflywing, I do know the name of some quilt blocks!) |
:D :D :D Good job!

We just can't thank our military enough.
Tell Steven thanks and give him a big hugs for me. I am so glad his deployment is over. P.S.---your blocks are very nice, too! |
Patience Corners was so easy, I couldn't figure out why they named it that!! All of the patterns came straight from www.quilterscache.com. Here is the link for this one:
http://www.quilterscache.com/P/Patie...nersBlock.html I think it looks a ton like a disappearing 9 patch, it's just made a different way. And, you only have to match ONE seam! Did the whole thing with only one pin. It was by far the easiest block of the 9. |
Give Steven a hug from us. I love your blocks. You did great.
|
I vote for the log cabin. Haven't tried that one, but hope to...going on my list & love the color combo.
|
Welcome Home Steven, and thank you for serving our country!!! :D :D :D
Wow!!! Those are all awesome!!! Good Job :D :D :D |
thanks, stephens. May God bless you and all your buddies. Maybe this war will soon be over and all will be able to return to families and normal lives. Bless all the families that wait for them. mary

I stitched a lot this last weekend too. Proud to say that the sampler top is now finished and ready to be quilted. Went to coupon extravaganza at Joann's and got a HUGE can of basting spray at 50% off. I'm a happy girl.
Here is a pic taken last night when it was hot off the presses: Here is a pic taken today in what little sunshine we had: This weekend, I'll get it basted and in the frame...then the fun begins! |
