i like the look of the stitches in the center of the blocks on the pillow. are they strictly decorative or are they functional?
|
Thank yas :)
Just a few stitches to kinda tack the centers down. |

Ok I promised to post a pic of the quilt that the pillow goes with. here ya go :)
I hand dyed the fabrics for this and spent almost a week deciding on how to put the blocks together and finally settled on this layout. She loves the quilt has in on her bed. She'll be 4 come June 3. |

TY Everyone this is my favorite quilt outta all the ones I've done,
and the one I'm proudest of. :) I asked gd what color blanket she wanted and she just kept listing colors so I said ok. rainbow quilt it is and this is what she got. All those hsq bout wore me out too. The colors/fabrics in pillow are exactly the same as in quilt I found the leftovers lurking in bottom of a bin couple weeks ago. That's a cute song Alaskan :) |
Colorful! :D
|
I like those. Great Job!
|
Your self-dyed fabrics and quilt are gorgeous! What a lucky granddaughter :!: :!:
|
So cute!!

Are the potholders done in the churn dash pattern? It is always such a clean looking pattern, and your work is very diligent, to say the least.
I am really liking the blocks in that pillow ... makes me think of a joker's tights ... oh, I remember! Harlequin ... the blocks remind of a harlequin pattern. I like them! thanks for sharing! |
I love your stuff! would really like to learn how to dye fabrics, like that! :D

Um I didn't know the pattern had a name LOL I just started sticking blocks together and that's what I ended up with LOL I do that alot especially with HST's just make a bunch then start sticking them together until I like the way the block looks and go from there. I used RIT Dye to do the fabrics and I did them on my dining room table.. laid a huge piece of plastic on table some on floor, then I got a pan of dye ready according to directions on box/bottle put in on hotpad on table then used a paintbrush to get the dye on fabric (Used 108" muslin cut into 1/2 yd strips) just kinda cruched it together then folded it loosly in half so it was close together put the dye on it.. more in some spots less in others then just let it sit for an hr or so. rinsed rinsed rinsed and rinsed a few more times lol let it dry hanging outside. Then I washed each piece seperately using delicate cycle with a tiny bit of soap. Thank you all for the great feedback I'll have to post pics of some of my other projects. :) |

Okay! Now I know the full story!
All I saw were the potholders and the pillow ... words failed me on the pillow, but I really liked it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6aouC56MPOE The first time I heard the song, it was ANdy williams singing it, and it was a little zippier, but I thought you would like to hear the song and gaze at your quilt <g>. |
Wow! Beautiful quilt! Thanks for sharing :D
|
Love how you put it together! And the coordinating pillow! Awesome looking. Potholders neat, too great gift.
