Am I missing something,I don't see anything to laugh at! Looks very nice to me and I am sure someone will love it.
I do! |
Well, I like the colors! what if you took the rows apart and then off set them? Make it look like you meant to do that! I'm sure you'll figure something out. This board has some great ideas, give it a few minutes and you'll have a ton of ideas!
Ok, I laughed too...but I'm so confused! I mean, that's a pretty huge difference in size from the top to the bottom! I usually have a bit of variance between rows, but never that big! (and I'll state for the record that I never square my blocks and am still working on my 1/4" seam on my new machine, lol)
I love the colours, though! I hope you can make it work, it sure will be pretty! |
I love the colors and pattern.
It's an "art" quilt!
Oh, I love those blocks - you need to rescue it. How about adding to each to make them wonky & then square them up.

Yes, indeed. Love the colors! |
Maybe work with the sashings to square it up. Those colors and pattern are too pretty to end up in a UFO pile.
if you make bigger sashings you could square them up to fit
I hate when I have to get the seam ripper out! OK, I'll confess, it stays out. Blocks are really nice, definately worth fixing.
ME, ME, ME!!! I love the color blue and this wall hanging!
Actually, what you could do is take off the sashing and make new bigger sashing and maybe some cornerstones and it would be fine. |
itg is all about our intentions....the thoughts behind it...but u could take apart...match up blocks closest to sizes....start over...make pillows....lap quilt....etc
it's fixable...larger sashings, and a bit of the frog stitch...rip it rip it...
You certainly have a beautiful quilt to work with. Remove the bottom row and iron the rest, I find that ironing can stretch out the material a bit and perhaps you can work in the last row. really like the pattern.
don't rip anything out! looks great. just add a strip of one of the blues down to the wider block then add a different blue border. its an original.
Hey I would just put two long strips on the outside (triangles) with the widest part being at the bottom and narrowing down to the top to make it square and let everyone think it was intentional!
another good reason for using cornerstones with your sashing.
lining up is so much easier ! pretty quilt, see if you can fix that last row & offset it also. |
Are all the squares the same size, and it's just the sashing that made it uneven? If so, just take out the sashing and redo it, or put together without sashing.
Love the blocks and colors. Carol B |
Ok it took me a minute or two to find the mistake and i laugh but only because i've done it before also! Thank goodness I'm not the only one! I love the colors, I'm sure It'll be loved no matter what!

Looks lovely, perhaps can be adjusted in places by adding rectangular blocks here and there?

I LOVE these blocks! This is nothing that a little creative sashing and borders couldn't fix. Keep us posted on what you decide to do.
It seems that rows 2 and 3 match up pretty well, and it's rows 1 and 4 that are a bit wonky. Therefore, I would call it intentional creative license, and tell everyone that you planned for it to be that way - thinking outside the box!
been there. rip out the last 2 rows and adjust so that the sashing lines up. theres always room for more love in that quilt. that is how I view my mistakes lol
I think the blocks are really pretty, and as much as we never like to rip out, I really would with that one. One other thing that OI would change, I'd do another color for the sashings. I think that dark blue adds to the uneven look. I noticed too that on the first row, right end, it looks like that seam wasn"t deep enough, maybe that got things going wonky. Other than that, the blocks look perfect!!
love it
took me a second to see the 'errors' How about four table runners. You would be ahead it the Xmas gifts ;) |
Looks like a couple of the quilts I have made. I Worked real hard on the blocks and then got in a hurry putting them together. I am sure you will rescue those beautiful blocks .
Then you can show a before and after picture. :) |
Live and learn is the lesson. Cutting, scant 1/4", and squaring up are all very important. We have all had to learn this the hard way.
I had a real mess one time when I had no idea and did not square up my blocks before putting it together and would you believe it was with a Roman Square !!!! yikes what a mess. Then to boot I tried applique of tulips in center !!! Then my daughter thought I shrunk it when it was actually a wall quilt !!! LOL LOL LOL I just love quilting !!! Enjoy
Oh, no! You've received some good tips!! I for one, would be no help. I'm "unsewing" this weekend and resewing with my new 1/4 in piecing foot!! Yuck! Good luck!

OK - I'll throw my two cents in...
I see the issues with alignment and the rows etc... but are the center triangles supposed to be mis-matching in terms of the darker triangles (I don't know what pattern you are using)? That was actually the first thing I noticed before even the misalignment and length issues etc... in any event I still like colors very much and believe it is very much salvageable no matter which direction you may choose. I'd buy it :-D as it is very pretty still. Remember, both art and beauty remains in the eye of the beholder, and there also seems to be a concensus here that we all like it! The blocks are pretty. Making mistakes is how we learn. I'm still learning after many years.
