Wow! I love that quilt. Does anyone know where I can find a pattern for it. I searched simplified log cabin in fields and furrow layout but I can't find anything that looks like the first picture.

look at it careful and you wont need a pattern.....center block with 2 L's around it. the rest is just layout rotation

I admire those who can look at a quilt and find the "block". After it is pointed out, you can see that it is very simple.

You're right. But if you look carefully you will see that some of those small "squares" do not have a seam to join them. If they are the same color, you can use a strip to replace two small squares. We end up with the same look, but fewer seams wins in my book!
In this quilt, they are actually built like court house steps, I think.
