They're from a future group called "Vive la France" by Kaufman. The group also comes in a pink-brown-green-white colorway. At first I looked at these and said, "red, white, and blue?" and then looked up a picture of France's flag and realized that those are French colors too. Many apologies to French quilters for my ignorance!

What projects come to mind with these?

Greta 08-25-2010 06:57 AM

for me if i had that fabric i would do just a basic big square quilt to highlight all those beautiful fabrics...

i am very very very did i mention very new to quilting so i don't know what all the quilt names are just yet... so take my advice with a grain of salt :)

Jim's Gem 08-25-2010 09:12 AM

Truthfully, nothing. They don't call my name.

NorseSal 08-25-2010 10:57 AM

There is really nothing that I could think of either. Frankly, I don't really like them. as there seems to be no, at least to me, no way to blend them. Maybe if there was a larger focus fabric for the center, the first two (blue and red prints) could be used with it. Sorry.

Sorry about the double post.........my fingers wanted to do their own thing.

SueDor 08-25-2010 11:47 AM

Could you use them as backings?

HeatherQuilts 08-25-2010 11:51 AM

The first two, maybe something for boy scouts.... I like the colors in this line, not crazy about the prints though. Although, my aunt is a French teacher, I could see making her a tote bag or something with them.

charmpacksplus 08-25-2010 11:57 AM

Totebags! Table runners! Placemats! Napkins! Quilts! Pajama pants! Scarf! Just so you all know.... the fleur de lis is now the official symbol of Louisiana! I'm sure this fabric would sell out down here although black and gold seems to be more popular (Go Saints!) than red, white, and blue.

I would make them in to grocery bags and give them to people who I don't like but feel I have to make them something for some strange reason lol.

Seriously. I'm not quite sure what they were thinking but I really really don't like them at all :(

Do you have to figure out something to make with them??

pattilynn 08-25-2010 12:22 PM

I don't think they are bad at all. I think what I would do is fussy cut the trees and towers into 6/12 in square and then border them with the prints, and maybe trim it all in red.

Ditter43 08-25-2010 12:53 PM

I think the first three would make a great d9p.....The design in the first two is called Fleur de leis...

sew_lulu 08-25-2010 12:53 PM

A bag!

I like them....maybe some blocks with tea cups...bistro tables... appliqued ladies with parasols...I think it would make up really Cute Quilt!

[that's what I see looking at these fabrics]

nwm50 08-25-2010 03:33 PM

the last 3 appealed to me,,,,,maybe a 4 patch or the dp9 or better yet the square in a square !

seamstome 08-25-2010 03:52 PM

Sorry not interesting to me

rexie 08-25-2010 06:22 PM

Bow Tucks, Bow Tucks, Bow Tucks.....would make a great gift...OUI?

ccthomas 08-25-2010 06:48 PM

Strip quilting could look good with these fabrics cut into strips. Hexagons would also work.

GrannieAnnie 08-25-2010 08:35 PM

Here's my suggestion. Pattern will be the snowball block. Use the Eiffel tower pieces for alternating snowballs. Use the fleur d lei (BTW, I flunked spelling in school) for the corners. You'll have to cut them on point ------carefully so the finished corners figures are top toward the middle. Then use the flower pot piece as your inner border with the fleur de lei pieces as additonal borders

thenonnielady 08-26-2010 01:47 AM

Actually I like them, but not together.
Love Fleur de lies......D9P sounds great, with a red center block. Using the others to support other fabrics sounds good to me.

frogella 08-26-2010 03:38 AM

I love them, I just don't know what I would do with them....Maybe the turning twenty pattern, because the blocks are large and could showcase the fabric. :)

sewcrafty 08-26-2010 03:43 AM

I'm sorry they don't float my boat. I could possibly see a purse out of 1 & 2.

OH YEA, I have some of the gold and black new ones that are out. I got it at Borne Quilter. I also got the purple and gold for LSU......I am going to make a quilt for my friend with it.

sahm4605 08-26-2010 04:33 AM

I think that a lovely wall hanging would work. I would do the fleur de lis would make lovely triangles and the two Eiffel towers fabrics would make lovely squares. and you randomly throw them together. or maybe this pattern would look lovely
http://www.jinnybeyer.com/block-a-we...fm?blockid=120 just a suggestion. the cuts look simple enough.

ngabrielle 08-26-2010 05:10 AM

Hi, I have been looking for the first two fabrics for weeks..... My son lives in Quebec Canada and wanted me to sew up a quilt with the Fleurs de lis. I quickly google Kaufman site, but was not successful to find it. Will keep searching. Hope to find an interesting pattern.

raptureready 08-26-2010 05:37 AM

I would eventually use them if they were given to me but I wouldn't purchase them unless they were in a big box on a garage sale for only a few dollars.

This is a future group... so it won't be available anywhere for a few months yet.

Friendly Quilter 08-26-2010 12:33 PM

I agree with some of the others. I do not really like the patterns. I would not buy them.

melodyfrog3 08-26-2010 12:38 PM

I would find some pics of France and use them as fill=ins around those pics

jljack 08-26-2010 02:02 PM

Sorry...but not wild about these prints!

IBQUILTIN 08-26-2010 03:43 PM

If I had to do something with them, it would probably be a French Braid (Pun intended)
