Based on both public and private communications, I've come to believe that "scrappy" is not so well-defined nor used to mean the same thing by all quilters.
What's your definition of Scrappy? Please answer with a photograph (or several). (These are NOT my quilts, but others I've found here that I admire.) |
I love the black one.

Those are very pretty and scrappy.
To me scrappy is using lots of different fabrics, no matter how you put them together. |

Scrappy to me is defined as using any fabric left over from previous projects. Nothing PURCHASED for the project. Though I know many people actually purchase and co-ordinate fabric for scrap quilts. But, to me that defeats the purpose of what a scrap quilt is about.
Here's one of mine and it's a true scrap quilt. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-160689-1.htm By the way...someone entered a scrap quilt at our show and was marked down by a judge because the scraps weren't co-ordinated well.... Grrrrr. Scraps are scraps:< |
scrappy is taking all your leftovers and making a work of art

I love your signature quilt.
What size are your blocks ? Where did you get the pattern? I would love to do one. Thanks for posting. Scrappy is defined by using what ever fabric you have in your scrap bag. I Like planned scrappy select your scraps and make a quilt more pleasing to the eye. |
Scrappy - the only way to go

Your quilts are WOW!
A scappy to me is taking anything and everything, and putting them together in an ordered of disordered way. A beautiful surprise everytime! Much as I love working in a an organised way with a few colours and following an intricate pattern, scrappy quilts really excite me. Sometimes I think this is what quilting is all about, making something superb out of what should have been thrown out. |
beautiful quilts thanks for sharing

Love these...

Mine is scrappy, drag around quilts. Made completely out of left-overs. They won't win any awards, and often not so nice looking. But big, warm and comfortable. As all my quilts are made are given away for free to charity.
