I seldom see whole cloth quilts, and never made any. You really did a good job.

Chele its so much easier than it looks......The machine flies with you when you make this things...you must try it....If I did it.....You can make something even better......

Absoulutely Beautiful! I don't know if I've ever actually seen a whole cloth quilt, if so, It has only been one or two. I love this! You did an amazing job quilting it! Very nice!

What do you use to lay down your design? Do you mark the top? If so with what?

Don't be intimidated.....Try it....Its much easier than it looks....

I did it with a very simple cheap machine (brother XR65).....
Put the whole sandwich on my dinning room....and basted by hand ..all over ....
Then I took simple shapes...(The first were kithchen plates with different dimentions.....) I marked them and run to my machine ....quilted.....went back to see how it looks, added more shapes here and there....again to the machine....
I first tried on a small "'sandwich" ...to see how it feels making this stippling and practice soe more.....(not years, not month...I believe it took like two weeks....) and then the final results....
I must tell you, you must be careful from the danger of loving it too much...I run and bought a new machine to have better stitch quality....

He he...My Brother machine was bought in TNN...(somewhere sewing...)
Whole cloth quilt (I learnt it here....myself since I wasn't sure what is it I was doing)...Is done from two full fabrics (one on the top and the other at the other side...and there is the "filling" inside (mine is polyester since I can't find any thing alse in here.....)
As you can see in the pictures.....One side has light color (its kind of gold in real life)...The other is very dark green....
Then you just mark whatever you want (I used the disapearing ink and kitchen plates) and run to the machine to ....to play....I did it my sections....Its really very fast to do and plenty of fun.....Press really fast on the pedal ...and move your hands ...slowly.....
I am sure, once you get used to it...you will love it.....

Ania, that is wild! I love it! You did a great job! Your machine must have a deep throat to fit the quilt in there without having to wrestle it too much. I did a practice quilt when I first got my quilt table so that I could practice all the different patterns & I made a whole cloth quilt (using $5.00 on sale twin flat sheets) with red on one side & blue on the other (warm & natural in the middle) & the binding was white with little red & blue stars. My daughter used it all summer for a beach blanket or when they went to the neighborhood pool. Your's is very creative!

Actually I did this quilt with my simple old Brother XR65 ..no deep throat...... The quilt dimentions are 74" x 53" and I am going to finish it by adding a sqirt all around it.... (going to make another one soon since I need two)....

It is easy....Trust me......I don't even know to sew....I am completelly new to quilting and without any special gifts.....If you have a pedal and two hands, you can do it too... :lol: :lol: :lol:

Excellent quilt; I love the whole cloth and that you made it white work as well was awesome.

I was planning on doing a smaller whole cloth quilt to improve my hand stitching. Reading the book “The Amish Quilt” I was surprised to find that some of their communities still refuse to piece, viewing it as elaborate (yeah, and what about the quilting!). Anyway I’ve fallen in love with their quilts, and after looking at the ones I like I think I’ve settled on a bar quilt, or possibly diamond in a square rather than a whole cloth, though I do still admire them greatly.

The biggest reason I’ve decided on a bar quilt was I want to design my own quilting pattern and the whole cloth seems like it would be a much more complex thing to do. But with yours as inspiration, I suppose I’ll eventually just have to do both now huh?
