A good friend asked me to make curtains for a spare room at her house. It is a huge room that could be used for meetings, parties, etc. She just wanted to duplicate the curtains that the original owners had put up 25 - 30 years ago because they matched the red and white tiles on the floor. She had the room painted and the old curtains were faded. After measuring and calculating, we purchased 13 yards of quarter-inch red and white gingham check for curtains for two windows. Each curtain is 58.5 feet long! This was not "hard" sewing, but definitely time consuming. Thankfully, she was pleased with the result.

 I went to the floral dept and bought leafy garlands to string up instead of valances when I redid my living/dining rooms!

Those curtains are adorable though

I've never seen valances made like that to continue down the sides of the windows! It's kinda cool!! You did a great job!

Neither had I! When she was trying to explain on the phone, I just didn't get it. It took a trip to her house, threading the old ones back on the rod, and holding them up to the window before I got it. The room had been painted and the rods and anchors had been removed so we had to improvise.

What a neat window treatment with the gathers down the sides! You did a great job - all 58.5 feet x 2 !! Now back to quilting?

I hope so. I need to make a protective case for my Ipad before we go on vacation so that's next. Then I better get started on birthday presents for my five best friends with October birthdays. Maybe table toppers.
