That is why I always tell the recipient of a quilt I make to USE it. I have never made a quilt that I didn't want to be used. I would feel honored if a quilt I had made ended up looking like that & someone not wanting to throw it away. Grandma is probably in heaven loving every minute of the girls wanting to keep it!!

Awesome.
I'm the only quilter now... only my great grandmother, who I never met, quilted. |
Beautiful story - thanks so much for posting it! I wonder if your Grandma had any idea how very much her quilt would be so loved?

that is one loved quilt. all the love in every stitch is just priceless
|
wonderful that it has been used loved so much
maybe you can tack down the loose pieces of fabric so they don't get caught and torn off |
This is a beautiful story! A great reason to quilt!

Such a beautiful story ... I started quilting because I wanted something to have that could be passed down ... no children, but loads of nieces/nephews!

Aw, thank you for sharing that story. Isn't that what a quilt is all about? I have a friend and she told me that she never gives away a quilt as a gift until she sleeps under it once. Is that a supersition among quilters? But I think it is sweet. What a wonderful legacy to leave behind, a well-loved quilt. Michelle in Texas
