anyway it's very very nice. what kind of batting do you use?

Yes, this is for my 12 YO. She is busy making Rennisance costumes on her mother's 20 YO Singer. I think I threaded the bobbin backwards for her last night. It's a drop in and my Ex told me it goes opposite how I thread the bobbins on my Elna or Bernina.

That is the Warm and not natural cotton batting. Actually it's called Warm and White I believe. Pretty thin but heck, this is California. Unless I have screwed up royally, this quilt ought last her for a long dang time.

What are you quilting in

those big white blocks
? Was this to give you a break from all the Flying Geese blocks? You do NICE work! Thanks for sharing.

Some of those BWBs are going to be cross hatched and diamond hatched, some are going to have Celtic knots. Wish me luck.

I love the idea of the celtic knots. I think that's going to be stunning. I have a whole book of celtic designs. It would be pretty to do them all using only the celtic designs. But the cross-hatching will be pretty as well!

Muscling this queen sized quilt through 15 freehand machine quilting designs isn't my idea of fun. I am not very good at it yet anyway. So some near the edge will be machine free hand , the rest will be cross hatching.

Aw, where's your sense of adventure K?

I'm sure it's going to be incredible no matter how you do the blocks! It's already got a beautiful start to it. I agree that maneuvering that much bulk under the needle ain't easy. :)

Tim, that's beautiful! Has your daughter seen it yet? I agree, we don't need very warm quilts. . . others here would probably laugh when we say it's cold outside.

And, Shelly, Happy Birthday!

Hi Celeste. She has seen it and is anxiously awaiting the arrival of 'her' quilt to put on 'her' bed.

It does get nippy around here, but cold is a stretch.

tim just south of you.

Tim, I'm working on a trip. Irish chain and it feels very familar so I had to come look at your again. Yep it looks very much the same, mine is barely blue, blue and bluer! How big were your strips? they look a bigger than my 2" ones and my queen size will have 40 of the big blocks, mine are 5". I'll have to find some celtic designs since this is for my FIL. All I have is girly stuff!
