so here is another quilt top I did this week. I'd posted the one I did for my grandpa with lots of positive feedback (thank you all) and also added that I'd be working with all these wildlife 4 1/2" squares my sister had cut out to do a quilt for her little guy but then lost ambition and gave them to me to do the job for xmas...I posted the question "what should I do with these?" and many suggested keeping it simple, doing a "quilts for kids" kind of quick layout. So, here it is. I decided to add the tan mottled fabric for some consistency in the nine-patch blocks and then the bigger blocks are a camo of leaves fabric she sent with me too. It's sized 58 x 80 plus seam allowance at this point. It's to be a twin. Do you recommend I add a border or do you think this will work as it is?
THANKS SO MUCH! I LOVE IT HERE! I've gotten more quilting done this week than I have in years since finding this forum! not a very good shot of it, sorry.

This is going to be nice too! The colors are very relaxing.
I am thinking when youget it finished if it is too small, add a border of the camo (or green)to make it the size you want.

I was measuring a twin size bed and found I'd have overhang of about 13" on the sides and 8" on one end as it is this moment so I have that dilemma if it is big enough or adding like you mention. added a closer view too.

I love it - I hadn't thought to use the variety of wildlife squares in nine patch squares - great job!

she had tons cut and so I organized them into like animals so the nine-patch blocks have either all waterfowl, all deer, all bears, all hunting dogs, all land birds (turkey, pheasant) all little furry critters, all wolves, all fish...so there is some bit of organization to it LOL!

thanks for the kind replies!

Lovely quilt your nephew is going to love it.

If you do a border, I think a solid color would look nice. A print would look too busy. A solid would frame it up.

Wow, look at all those fussy-cut little squares. Nice quilt.

that is perfect-love the woodsy feel

Thanks! She sent a hunting orange fabric too- wondered about that for a border with corner squares in the camo...or the light mottled brown/tan used in the ninepatch squares for the border with the camo in the corners...?
