Ok here is the window shade in progress. I started it the same way as the door shade here.

http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-128867-1.htm

I cut the batting blocks 18x18. I have to make 8 blocks that size. I have a bunch of fish, fussy cut and I will put those somewhere in the block, not necessarily in the center.

I threw the entire pin on the floor and had to hurridly pick out large pieces, strips and small pieces to join here and there. I had to hurry because I knew Teddy would soon find out and make his bed immediatley and I barely escaped lol.

I am using large piece and small pieces.

all pitched on the floor lol

this is what I picked, the batting blocks in the back

first block. Here it looks like the fish is coming out from under something. I like to do effects like that especially since some of the fish was missing.

Yes it like a quilt but for a window just like the door shade. See link at beginning of post.

I sew the scraps right onto the batting. Then I'll sew the blocks together and they will be quilted already. I then sew the lining on and turn inside out and it's done and ready to hang.

I love seeing the process. That is a lot of pieces you have in the bin...I would love to have that much to be as creative as you are. I can really tell that you are enjoying putting these blocks together. Can hardly wait to see the finished product.

Oma (German for Grandmother lol), My friends dump their scraps here and some members here on the board sent me some too.

I love all the different tastes and together they make a fabulous collection for what I love to do. I have more fun doing this than anything.

The other satisfaction that one gets from doing scraps quilts etc, is that it's free. Even the batting is scrap. All that is needed is the backing or lining and I just join very large piece together for that.

I am going to work on block three now and see how many I can get done today. I don't have to cook today. It is always good to have a large amount of scraps and I hope my bin is never empty.
