I played around with a new 30 degree ruler and made this out of five inch charms i had of Winnie the Pooh. the ruler is very skinny at the top and the seams were too many to lay down flat enough for me so i cut them out a bit and put a circle in the center.
Now, do i need to do a bit more stitching? I'm thinking i need more at the outer edge but am thinking of going inside each or every other dresden to help hold the batting in place during any washings. I will have to fill my bobbin again. hate doing that.

well i finished it. at least now it is done and I can give it to my step granddtr to use with her little boys. Two bundles of energy!!

Cute... I'm sure they will love Winnie and friends. I like the blanket stitch on it. I think it would look good with blanket stitch around the outside edge, too.

Very nice!!!

Cute. It does appear that it would benefit from additional quilting. I like the idea of blanket stitching, although that might be awkward with the number of layers at the seams. I like your idea of quilting every other outer segment. If it were mine, I would use hearts. For boys, however, I would use simple wonky 5 point stars. An alternative might be a row of stitches, decorative or plain, about 1/2 way out the outer segments. Another choice might be on diagonals of those segments, Outside to inside on one, Inside to outside on the next, so that you get 6 inner and 6 outer points. I hope this all makes sense.

it will be worth filling your bobbin again. i know how you feel about that.

Awesome Dresdens! I love the Dresdens & all the variations to them. Yours looks really cool with the blanket stitch & the straight stitch. You can't go wrong with Winnie fabric either. Great job!

That is so cute, ....... now really who could ever resist Winnie the Pooh and friends.

You were right; the additional quilting added a great deal to the piece. I think you made a great choice to cut away the center and add the blanket stitched circle. The added quilting is perfect.
