Love this quilt. I recognize some of the patterns that are also part of my grandmothers basket designs. You did great!

Again, thanks to all of you. I enjoy modern quilting, but at times it is great to continue the old ways, maybe with a new way of looking at them. I have huge respect for these traditional arts. I asked my friend the meanings of some of the other patterns she showed me, but the elders she asked did not know. Some were very easy to convert to quilt elements, some took a great deal of time.

Beautiful - I love it. What part of Northern California are you from? I was born in Quincy and lived in the Feather River Canyon in really small community called Twain until High School.

Very cool, similar to a Seminole quilt.

I am from San Francisco. My dear friend is Nor El Muk, a Wintu tribe. She and another friend supplied me with sketches of the motifs. These tribes are in Northern California.

This is very cool!

wow fantastic

My friend has the quilt now and is showing it off to other members of her tribe. BTW, she is a traditional basket maker, herself.
