I made a Lone Star from a silent auction at guild about 7 yrs. ago. The blocks were all cut, some were sewn.
I actually got it made and it was okay. I would like to take the borders off someday and re-do them.
Honestly I didn't know what I was doing, but somehow I got through it.
I have taken entire quilts apart, and later loved them. My suggestion would be to put it away for awhile.
Someday when you aren't busy or stressed, get it out and do as others have said; take it apart at the half-section, double check that it is straight, and check your seams. Press very thoroughly. Do this with the 8 big section.
Then after having done this and they are all checked, pressed thoroughly, sprayed with magic sizing and ironed, and double checked, then be sure to number the sections. By suffering along with my quilting, especially stars, I have learned this saves me a lot of grief and heartache, plus frayed nerves.
Then maybe even another day, get the sections back out and baste very thoroughly. Maybe even press again.
Then, slowly put back together, 2 sections, 1/4 and 1/4, then 1/2, then the other 2 sections and 1/2.
I had to take an entire quilt apart last Summer and re-make it,so please don't feel bad.
I have a Lone Star Quilt Book,so if you need moral support or advice, pm me.
Mariah.
