You can see the front of this quilt in my Avatar; it's a about a full-size. I've been delaying the FMQ on this quilt for over a year now, until I felt I could do the quilting without messing it up, so this one was an intentional UFO for quite awhile. Here are a couple of pictures of my work this weekend. I did a bunch of SITD and then took out all the basting stitches, then started on the freemotion feathering in the border. I used Hobbs washable wool batting and really like working with it! I think it will make a nice warm and cozy quilt when I'm done. :D

Very nice job!!. Hey, I wanted to ask you...do you have one of those super slick thingy down on your machine (for FMQ) I dont know what they are called. anyway, do you notice a big difference with it as opposed to without it?? Thank you

Yes, I use a Supreme Slider, and it does make a noticable difference for me.

No, I'm not using a twin needle. I do an echo stitch on the outside of the feather to get back to the beginning instead of following the spine back down. (Another technique I learned from Sharon Schamber videos.)

Awesome and beautiful quilting! You give all quilters who can't afford a LA the confidence of being able to do FMQ on their domestic machines

I'm one of those quilters who can't afford a LA, so I decided to see what I could do. I've been at it in my spare time for a little over a year now. My first attempts at FMQ were pretty sad, but with enough practice, I think anyone who sets their mind to it can do it too!

Is it just a little sick that I got up early this morning so I could quilt a few more feathers before I had to leave for work? There I was, quilting and watching the clock, thinking, "I've got time for just one more...."
