Yup. Red would be a fantastic choice.

LindaM 04-11-2011 05:07 PM

Oooooohhh - drooling - love it love it! Border, agree - a little dash of red and a big splash of either dark or light, which ever you want to pull out of the blocks.

Do you want to do simple strips, or do you want to do something like a ribbon effect? A nice collection of borders:

I was thinking of the 'curling ribbon' with your quilt ...

Sassylass 04-11-2011 05:10 PM

Yes red would set it off..that is lovely!!

kriscraft99 04-11-2011 05:10 PM

oh my oh my.. stunning!! I would put your favorite color with it - it is gorgeous!

dellareya 04-11-2011 05:14 PM

I'd choose red. It will give it a dramatic effect. Very nice job on this.

redturtle 04-11-2011 05:21 PM

i also immediately thought of red...

it will bring out the little bit from the flowers/what not that is already peeking out of your current choice of fabrics...

they are gorgeous fabrics by the by...and a beautiful pattern...

cant wait to see it finished

cakebaker 04-11-2011 05:34 PM

I think any bright color would look good like a neon green or pink. I like the black and white prints, it is going to be a beautiful quilt when you get it finished.

I agree with border, and I really love that back and white

Nettie Phillips 04-11-2011 06:07 PM

Really pretty.

bailey 04-11-2011 06:11 PM

Very, very nice. I like it a lot.

katyquilter 04-11-2011 06:11 PM

I agree, red!

debcavan 04-11-2011 06:20 PM

Love it. I would put a 1" red border around it before an outside border so you have just a touch of red or another bright color

emerald46 04-11-2011 07:00 PM

Gorgeous - gotta be red!

CoriAmD 04-11-2011 07:39 PM

I love what you have so far!
Just my opinion, but if I were doing this, I would use red sashing - put 4 blocks together and sash with red. Then also use narrow red border, then black border, then red again.
Hey, I said it was "just my opinion"

It's funny you should say that, I was think about sashing myself...thanks for you opinion
Katt
would you put the sashing between the each row of 4 block or put 4 complete blocks together then the sashing...just a thought

hperttula123 04-11-2011 07:48 PM

I would day something red, because there is a little bit of red in the quilt. It is great so far!!! :)

bookworm 04-11-2011 08:03 PM

Piano keys. That's my vote :)

kreinhart742 04-11-2011 08:20 PM

Yes red would be lovely, nicely done

BETTY62 04-11-2011 08:43 PM

It's going to be beautiful. I would use red to bring out the small flowers in the print.

Quilting Angel 04-11-2011 09:26 PM

I think a red border would look good.

raedar63 04-11-2011 09:28 PM

Any bright primary color will look great!

Definitely needs at least a narrow red border then maybe one of the fabrics you used in the quilt. It will be very pretty whatever you decide to do. Oh yes, then I would probably do a red or black binding.

Airwick156 04-12-2011 12:53 AM

That is really pretty. I would do red borders too I think.

Rainy Day 04-12-2011 01:26 AM

I love the idea of sashing - how about repeating the inner square on the edges in reds? A curling ribbon would look great, but I would keep it to black and white. JMHO :)

Rainy Day 04-12-2011 01:29 AM

double post - or no post? What's the story?

Pitty Pat 04-12-2011 03:38 AM

A hint of that pink (the flowers in the strip..if that is pink)and close it with one of the black main fabrics.

betsey 04-12-2011 03:51 AM

Love it! Red, or maybe a bright yellow

jitkaau 04-12-2011 04:11 AM

A plain one, which does not compete with the optical tricks you blocks are playing. They really dance.

PunkQuilter 04-12-2011 04:16 AM

Ahh....Yellow, of course.

jodi58 04-12-2011 04:22 AM

Narrow red or solid black, wide black and white print, black binding.

I agree. Do you have more blocks? If not, how about making it 4 blocks square & the leftover on the back? love it & happy quilting!

Justquilting 04-12-2011 04:30 AM

Looks great! My first thought was it needs a little red in it. lol
Show us what you end up doing!!

Mariposa 04-12-2011 04:33 AM

Neat so far!

StitchinJoy 04-12-2011 04:37 AM

It's bold and beautiful. I think a red border would draw my eye away from your wonderful pieced blocks. I'd use either no border at all, or a small black border. If you'd like to pull the red color, then maybe use red as binding.

pieces 04-12-2011 04:42 AM

I would stick with the black/white theme and use a black border, not solid but with a very small print so that it appears black from a distance but with enough print to add interest.
Then bind with a solid black.

materialgrl 04-12-2011 05:03 AM

I would go for the black also,I love it whatever you choose

ns 04-12-2011 05:11 AM

Nice Blocks! I also vote for Red.

SandyMac 04-12-2011 05:20 AM

I like it very much.
