Get some iron on stabilizer, and I use a 12 1/2 inch ruler and rotary cutter. Iron on about a 13X 13 inch piece to the inside of the shirts cut out the fronts and if design on back also use that.. then just I cut 2 1/2 inch strips from fabric. I like using denim, women's jeans are lighter so they work the best, sew on the sashes and then the strips together. I usually back it with fleece as it makes it very comfy. Then I stitch in the ditch along the strips sashes and bind it, and done..
