Thought some would like to see my pinwheeled flying geese squares so far completed. Any critisism is most welcome.

Well, I have a critisism. Where the heck is mine??? :mrgreen: Seriously, I've never seen quite that pattern and I really like it. I also like the different color elements reminescent of the four seasons. Tim, as usual ,we stand in awe.

Look at the quilt called Homeward Bound. Their's is 12 blocks and a twin, mine will be 16 blocks and a queen.

Tim...I love those flying geese pinwheels. I'll have to file those away with all the other patterns I want to try someday. I reallly are beautiful!

As I see them (with old jaded eyes) I see Pinwheels. They are the same as when made with Triangle Half Squares. Why do I say that? I have made 3 quilts using Trangle Half Squares so I have looked at enough of them to recognize them.

I want to add Flying Geese to a quilt border and feel intimidated by making them the "traditional" way. (if there is a Traditional mehod)

If they were arranged in a different way, they would look more like Flying Geese, but I have never seen Flying Geese in this "formation." Sorry, not meant as criticism, just a clarification for the way I view these photos.

Beautiful fabric and the workmanship looks good! When I do Flying Geese the regular way they are always lop-sided. I've been intending to try thr easy method and I've seen several ways to do this. Your's do well under inspection and you can be proud. :P

Ah, very good, Old Jaded Eyes... Half the squares (8) are just these pinwheels. the other half will have formations of four flying geese where the large rectangles are in these squares. I have a lot more work ahead of me! There is a border with more triangle half squares in the same fabrics. As I work on these squares, the remainder triangle that I cut off are sewn together and will make the THS for said border.

You will notice, there are two different fabrics for the pinwheel parts. red and blue. In whole, these fabrics are very 'angry'. Cut and placed into this context, it seems the anger has gone away and leaves just the energy.

I do like the pattern and can hardly wait to see the finished quilt. Hurry! :lol: How many flying geese? :lol: Personally, I dislike making geese but I do like looking at them.

Each rectangle will have 4 geese, so 16 geese to the square, times 8 squares is...

128 little geese flying in formation. As far as color, only the white scares me on this quilt. I am hoping it blends in when the whole thing comes together.

The white is going to give your quilt a little spark! Like the yellow and turquoise. Trust me! :lol: Keep those geese flying. You're a brave soul!!!
