I saw this book title at a LQS and had to have it. The theory is to use border fabric. You know the ones that look like they are ONLY for use as a border. The you cut on the diagonal and assemble in a way similar to a four patch posie quilt pattern.
I wish I took a photo of the fabric before, but I was too excited to start the new project!! Here's a photo of the blocks laid out. I still have some of the border pieces unsliced, so they will go around the blocks. Enjoy! Wonderful 1 Fabric Quilt |
That is adorable!! Can't wait to see it all finished and quilted
Is each "block" just a cut piece of fabric?? |

Is each "block" just a cut piece of fabric?? Anyway, you question. Each block is a cut piece reassembled. I've attached a graphic of the layout I did. The repeat on this border was 8 7/8", so after cutting out all the borders, I cut them into exact 8 7/8" squares, then cut as shown in the diagram below, then assembled. The book is really good. It give different layouts based on your border fabric. I had a two border repeat fabric, meaning a large border then small, then repeat. Hope this helps! |

OK, I get it!!! How neat!!!
I'm sure your business will "pick up" through word of mouth and it doesn't hurt to have cards to leave at all the LQS, guild meetings, etc. Good Luck!! |
are the blocks on the bias? it's so pretty!

You have opened up yet ANOTHER creative idea for me to try. Thank you! I think your quilt is lovely. Thanks for sharing.

I'm trying my best not to stretch them has I sew. But I can tell that some blocks will be "friendly" in the center. I didn't prewash the fabric, so the good old "starch and steam" method will be my friend when I quilt it! :P Sewjoyce: Thanks for the vote of confidence. I do have my cards at several LQS's. One LOVES me and is my champion. At least the machine is paid for, so I don't have to worry about making payments! :D |
Very Pretty!!!
