Wonky Winged It

2 Attachment(s)
Hi all. I just finished my Wonky Winged It pucker filled quilt. It finished at 49" square. It is definitely not my best quilt ever. I made it from a bunch of HST's I had left over from my Maple Leaf quilt. I needed some more blocks so I added the 9 patches. Of course the blocks didn't come out all the same size, so I added the coping strips which didn't come out the same size either. This is why it is called wonky winged it. I did a simple meander for the quilting then just SID along the borders. Dobbs really liked the quilt and couldn't wait to try it out.

I guess I can consider the puckers "character :p" and maybe some year I can make a quilt without them ;).

Have you ever tried glue-basting with Elmer's School Glue? I made dozens of quilts with this method and can remember only one pucker. Good for you for putting those extra blocks to good use. Your kitty seems to love your quilt.

Yes, I glue baste all my quilts. I don't think I get them tight enough when basting.

Every Dobbs need a quilt of their own. Both of my pets are deceased now, but they both loved one of my oldest quilts and would share it on the couch.

Not all quilts are made perfect, but they keep you just as warm. A good way to use up stash and made components and get a quilt as a reward. If Dobbs says it’s good, then it must be so.

No quilt or quilter is perfect. We learn with each quilt we make and some projects test all of us no matter our expertise.
Congratulations on a finish. It looks like Dobbs needed a new quilt.

Dobbs: "Move? Me? You want me to move?"

It may have some wonks (not awfully noticeable in the photos), but I want to tell you how pleasing I find it. The colors you chose, including the scraps, the proportions of each color, and the layout--they really work together. The quilt has a subtle 'homestead' feel and I hope you feel aesthetic pride it it.
