I can see why it won the innovation award. It is amazing. Reminds me of some of the Hubble telescope pictures. Very creative and unique. I like it a lot.

That is truly awesome! Not something I would ever do myself - stuck in the dark ages - but I will admire your "innovation" to the hilt! Excellent!

Congratulations looks like a very interesting wall hanging and I love all the interesting techniques you used. What is that in the narrow border not piping? Sounds like I should try and get a class in with Libbey.

The binding uses 2 different trims I found. I basted the first trim, which has the loops going toward the quilt, onto the edges. Then I applied a slightly wider-than-normal bias binding to the front side of the quilt. Folded it around to the back, so that it was wider on the back than it was on the front. I pinbasted in place. Back to the front, and couched the 2nd trim over the binding seam, using a small zigsag stitch, so that the stitches were just inside the edge of the binding on the back. For the couching, I used a metallic thread that matched the trim.

Congratulations on your awards; you are quite the artist and I share with you the "fear" of going outside the box! Keep up the great work.
