Wool and Hand Embroidery
4 Attachment(s)
Lately I have been experimenting with wool and hand embroidery. I never really realized what dimension the wool can add, and hand embroidery is a wonderful embellishment. Rather than using a fusible material I hand basted the wool pieces to the cotton so that the needle would go through the wool easier. Sometimes the fusing makes it pretty tough to add much stitching.

That’s gorgeous! When I do the wool applique, I use a small dab of glue to tack the pieces down. I don’t like stitching through fusible.

Your stitches are exquisite. To you it may just be dabbling in a new medium, to the rest of us it's a work of art.

Very nice! I too have been bit by the wool and hand embroidery bug. I have only dipped my toes in so far. I bought a few wool kits for candle mats and a pin cushion. I then got Sue Spargo's "creative stitches" book for Christmas and some yummy threads from Wonderfil to play with. I really love working with the felted wool but have not had any luck finding suitable wool in thrift stores to felt and dye myself. Seems every 100% wool item I end up buying at the thrift store doesn't felt! It is great fun experimenting with all the stitches in Sue's book.
