This was my first Wool Penny Rug. Now I'm hooked! The horse belongs to my friend. When I took his picture, he just stood there, looking at me, with one foot in the air. But he had this naughty look on his face... His pattern now lives in the book "Horsing Around".

It's stunning!! What do people do with penny rugs?? I have a pattern in a magazine I wanted to do, but didn't know what to do with them. Are they just like a table topper?? It isn't very big, so I didn't think it belonged on the floor!

I think people use them as candle mats and just as table top decoration....this is beautiful !!

I didn't even have to look at who did this. I knew instantly. Your work is always so beautiful and unique. Thanks for sharing.

What is the difference between wool and felt? Could you use felt? I bought a yard of about 12 colors when it was 50% off, and used some in Xmas wall hangings and a couple of applique quilts I did, but for these penny rugs, can it also be used?

I hung this one on the wall over a window. They don't usually go on the floor, despite the name.

Wool clothing, which is woven, can be felted by washing and drying it a couple of times. Felt which is not woven, can be made from wool fibers or synthetic fibers. But to answer your questions, yes. You can use it all to make penny rugs.

No. It's super easy. You don't have to worry about turning the edges under, just stitch 'em down.

It's beautiful! I like the process of making penn rugs but don't really like the primitive look of many of the designs. I love this one

Hi, Thanks!!
Yes, this one happens to be in the book called "Horsing Around". It has this oval pattern and also a square one.
